Delta and Paonia Advance in the CO High School State Football Playoffs. Delta County made a great showing in the Colorado State Football Playoffs. All four schools, Hotchkiss, Cedaredge, Paonia and Delta, made it to the first round of playoff games. Delta and Paonia will move on to the next round.
This picture was taken at the Hotchkiss game. I was there for the game. The Hotchkiss Bulldogs played Burlington and lost 27-7. The Cedaredge Bruins traveled to Monte Vista and lost 20-7. Both are in the 1A division.
I'll have schedules for both Delta and Paonia as soon as I hear something. Both teams will continue their season in hopes of a State Championship. Paonia had home field advantage against Colorado Springs Christian. The Eagles won 34-6. The Delta Panthers played Steamboat Springs at home and won 50-12. Delta is in the 3A division and Paonia is a 1A team.
For a small rural county...Delta County, Colorado has a lot of talent. Not only did all four of our high school football teams to make to the state playoffs, but the Cedaredge Band won the state Marching Band Championship for the third straight year. The Hotchkiss girls cross country team are also state champions this year. The Cedaredge girls volleyball team went to the regional match this season as well.
