1883 – Robber "Black Bart the poet" gets away with his last stagecoach robbery, but leaves a clue that eventually leads to his capture. Born Charles Earl Bowles, he is known to have robbed over 2 dozen Wells Fargo stagecoaches.
Bowles left only two authenticated poems, below is one of them.
Here I lay me down to sleep
To wait the coming morrow,
Perhaps success, perhaps defeat,
And everlasting sorrow.
Let come what will, I'll try it on,
My condition can't be worse;
And if there's money in that box
'Tis munny in my purse.
1911 – Chevrolet officially enters the automobile market, competing directly with the Ford Model T. Chevy’s first automobile was the Series C Classic Six, which was actually designed prior to Chevrolet’s incorporation as a company, so the first models (besides the prototype) were produced in 1912.

1964 – Washington D.C. residents vote in their first presidential election.
1973 – NASA launches the Mariner 10 toward Mercury. Almost six months later, on March 29, 1974, it becomes the first space probe to reach the planet Mercury.
