8th Annual Project Holiday -Delray Beach and Boca Raton- Gifts for Our Troops!  November 8-December 6, 2013!

You Are Not Alone” and “One Soldier at a Time” have come together to Us flagsupport the city’s Project Holiday.

We’re approaching the time of year when families and friends come together to celebrate the holidays, but as you know, there are many serving our country who will not be with their loved ones.

Project Holiday has become as much a gift to our community as it is to our military personnel.   Giving to others is the best way to capture the spirit of the holiday.  Through this effort, much needed items will be collected and sent to our troops to let them know they are not forgotten and that we appreciate what they do.

Donations will be accepted between November 8 through December 6, 2013.

What a great project, not too long ago a friend's son who was in the service was saying how much they looked forward to receiving packages of the things we take for granted that they need to survive and make life just comfortable enough to get by.

Kathy, What a great project  for the holidays-our soldiers deserve to be taken care of and this is a wonderful community activity.  I know they love getting care packages to know we all think of them.

Hi Kathy -- I'm sure these types of events mean so much to our soldiers.  They deserve to receive them and obviously so much more.   Grreat community effort on behalf of those who care in Delray Beach and Boca Raton.

Wayne - it is and its a good time to get the kids involved.

Sharon- it does, and it's good to take the kiddies to the stores and help them think through what those in the military might need.

Noah- It takes so littleand it helps to show our support.

Scott- I think we forget that it's not easy to just make a quick trip to Target over there to get what they need.

Janis- you know it's up to parents to set the example for their children.

BarbaraT- I remember during the first Gulf War, I sent a package of Dentyne gum and a cartoon I'd cut from the paper to "any soldier" every day.  I actually received some nice notes from it.

Joanna- I think we've learned a lesson from the way the vets during Viet Nam were treated.

Michael- Imagine spending your holidays there and receiving packages from people you don't know !

Kathy, I like these organized days of collection for the troops. Many of the lower ranks don't have extra money and will especially appreciate being thought of.

Kristin- I know there will be.

Alexandra- this is what our country was built on, and I know that we'll all pitch in to help.

Patty- thanks.  You know, so many of our retirees do a lot of volunteering here, it's good that they're active and still contributing.

Jeffrey- it is sad and something that they willingly take on.  We owe it to them to help wherever and whenever we can.

Debb- it's very important to pass this tradition of "giving" down to our children.

Roy-  I wonder about the men and women who may not have families who can send all of the things they need.  It's not inexpensive.

Barbara-Jo- I know that there are many communities that are participating in some way.

Connie- I do hope that clubs, schools and other organizations will participate.

Debbie- that is so true.  I know we have many families of the military who are struggling just to make it here.

Kathy, This is a fabulous event.  My husband was active military for many years, and I can't tell you how much the soldiers love to receive care packages!  Joe always mentioned how much the troops love gum!
