November 5th, 2013 is the day to make sure your vote gets included in the count in this important General Election day in Washington State.  This election will determine many county, city, port of Olympia, school board, and fire district positions.  Local decision makers who will impact your life, so make sure your voice heard in their selection.

There are also some statewide measures - gathering heavy duty attention is Initiative 522 which is about labeling of genetically engineered foods.

Thurston County is an entirely vote by mail county, so there will not be polling places open for you to go and vote.  You can complete your ballot at home, with the voter's guide at your side as you mark your votes.  Then you either need to mail (postmarked before 8 PM today) or just drop off your completed ballot at one of the many convenient drop boxes before 8 PM (no postage stamp needed).

The ballot drop locations are all listed for you, so find the one that is most convenient - but do NOT forget to vote!!

It IS a big one Debb! I got my ballot filled out last night & will be dropping it off on my way to the office. I'm going to be very interested in hearing how I522 comes out - and very grateful that the incessant commercials about it can stop now!

I know Nancy, the commercials are so annoying. 522 is very controversial and I know the rest of the country is watching to see what happens.

Yes, it's been very controversial indeed. There's been so much money spent (especially on the "no" side) that I really don't know what to expect the outcome of the vote will be....
