Spending Time and Creating Memories!
In 2008 I moved my mother from Florida to live with me after my step-father passed. This October my mother had her 90th birthday. Each and everyday I am so grateful to have this special time to share with my mother. She is an amazing woman and is so intelligent, loving and kind. I have learned so much from her over the years.
Yesterday was a very special day. She was enjoying a good book, she reads several books a week, and I decided to get out her favorite cookie recipe and mix up some cookies. It just felt like a good day to begin some early holiday baking. My mother heard me in the kitchen and asked what I was doing. I told her that I had just mixed up a batch of her favorite German Springerle cookie dough.
I was getting ready to roll the dough out to form into cookies and she came to the kitchen to join me. I asked her if she wanted to help roll them out and she got the biggest smile on her face and twinkle in her eyes. I set everything up at our breakfast table, so that she could be seated to help. She and I had the best time just sharing, laughing and discussing old times with family and friends who are no longer alive and with us. The time flew and it was so much fun.
The cookies came out great and are oh so delicious. They were made with an extra dose of love.
The holiday season is upon us ... spending time and creating memories!!
