I remember sitting in high school taking a course on personal finance. It was the only high school course that I kept the notes from, besides Spanish :-) We learned how to write checks, buy a used car, get car insurance, and obtain good credit. These lessons proved to be invaluable. It's easy to look back and wish we could go back in time and make changes to our lives. I was inspired by Jean Singleton's post title "The Legacy Left Within the Walls” http://activerain.com/blogs/jeansingleton.

I contacted my high school to see if that business teacher, Chad Finck, was still around or not. Today I had the honor of buying him lunch. I tried to convey how much he impacted me with such a simple class. So many people, both young and old, sit in my office with no idea how credit works. They don't know how to negotiate buying a car or get the proper auto insurance coverage. Many are under sacred cow beliefs about how to get good credit scores.
It's a passion of mine to give back and help others avoid the same mistakes. I want my ceiling to be others floor. As jean would put it....Leave a Legacy. Chad and I are looking into opportunities to have me visit his class and pour back into the next generation.
Don't live thinking about would've, could've, should've. Live today making a difference in the lives of other's. However small it may seem it matters.
