Today's Home Tour -- Surprise in the Master Bathroom

Late this afternoon, I showed a property in North Phoenix (incidentally in the same neighborhood that my wife and I purchased our first home, in the late 80s).

The home has benefited from some nice remodeling and we enjoyed our tour of the ground level.

We then headed upstairs to take a look at the bedrooms.  Our first stop was the master suite.  We stepped into the master bath and were greeted with the following surprise.

Plantation Shutter Over Skylight

Plantation Shutter Installed Over Skylight

That is a plantation shutter which has been placed on the ceiling, over a skylight.  (By the way, what did you think I was going to say?)

Interesting.  In the thousands of homes I have toured over the years, that is a first.  But isn't that part of the fun on real estate tours?  Finding the unexpected?

There was also a nicely remodeled shower, pictured below.

Beautiful remodeled baathroom. Not quite sure about the shuttered skylight. Unusual but nice in a way. Would like to see it functioning :)

At the very least, it's an interesting idea/solution Eric! I've had buyers comment a few times that a skylight is a nice touch but directly above the bed? How would you block out the sun?

Hi, Jane and Andrea -- the plantation shutter, as you know. is attractive (and also an expensive way to block a window).  Just have never seen it used on a skylight before!  have a great week!

I have never seen a shutter used in that manner.  But, when you stop to think about it, it seems like a great solution for day sleepers:-)

Hi Eric- That is very interesting. Someone had their thinking cap on when they came up with this simple solution.
