Ways to save $1000 per yer or more

Each year I review my spending habits and look for ways to save money that really do not affect my life or my lifestyle.

Here are a few ideas I am using for next year:

1. Review cable and telephone bills. Many times by changing the pan you can save $30-$40 a month.    $400 annual

2. Combine trips for errands and work. Do not let  your car idle- turn it off. This will save at least 4100 a year in gas.Gas, tire, brakes, wear and tear and your car savings $10 or 3 gallons or 60 miles a week is $520 a year

3. Go an extra few days between maincure and haircuts. One less per year can save around $100.

4. Make meals from leftovers. Do this once a week and save at least $10 a week. $520 a year.

Great tips Lori.  I'll add another to go along with your #4 - stop at a few grocery stores close by to eachother to take advantage of deals at each.  Since I started buying my produce at a separate location it saves me $100+/month.

Along the lines of your #4, plan ahead and make your own lunches rather than spend $10 or more for lunch. Even if you do this 3 days a week it will save a bundle and help reduce food waste at home. Cut out Starbucks too and make your own coffee. Satellite radio is another popular service people pay for without thinking about it as a luxury. That $15 per month adds up even though it may seem insignificant by itself. That's the trick with a lot of services...they ding your credit card for $10 per month or so because most people are too lazy to make the effort to cancel a service.
