We are officially entering the holiday season and that means it’s time to think about decorating, celebrating and gift giving. While there are loads of festivals and craft shows taking place all over the state, here in Northern Virginia we have enough to keep you busy shopping all month long.
The first event this season is the Northern Virginia Christmas Market, which kicks off on the weekend of November 8 through 10 in the South Hall of the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. The event is open Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 to 5. There will be more than 250 artisans from all across the country offering fine arts, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, wood, photography, textiles and lots of one-of-a-kind Christmas collectibles. Admission is $8 and children under 8 years old enter for free. If you bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, you’ll receive $1 off your admission.
In mid-month, you can visit the Fairfax Holiday Craft Show on the weekend of November 16 and 17 at Fairfax High School. This is a juried show now in its 27th year. With more than 200 vendors – and Santa Claus in person – the show features a variety of seasonal arts and crafts. Admission is $5 or $8 for a two-day pass, and the show is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, and 10 to 3 on Sunday.
Rounding out the month is the Vienna Arts and Craft Showcase on the weekend of November 29th through December 1st. The event will be held at the Vienna Community Center, and is open from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday. The show, now in its 30th year, is a production of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild and features more than 80 juried artists and their creations. Artists will be on-site to answer questions and discuss their work. Admission is $3 and there is free parking available.
