You Might Miss Out with New Gmail Tabs

As you might have heard or seen by now, Gmail has rolled out new tabs for your email. There are now Primary, Social and Promotions tabs. The idea is to help you keep your emails organized.

There have been a number of 'Rainers that are no longer seeing their ActiveRain Daily Drop or weekly emails in their Primary folder. There is a chance that Gmail has moved the ActiveRain emails into the Social or Promtions folders, where you might not look everyday.

Never miss a beat by moving ActiveRain emails to your Primary tab. We have included screenshots below on how to do this and make sure you completed correctly.

Step 1:

Locate an email from ActiveRain. You can scroll through your Social and Promotions tabs or type newsletter@activerain.com in the search bar above your inbox folders.

Step 2:

Once you have found an ActiveRain email, click on the email (either the "ActiveRain" or the subject line), hold and drag it to the Primary tab.

Step 3:

Once you release your mouse a confirmation box should appear that asks "Do this for future messages from newsletter@activerain.com?" Make sure you click "Yes" for this to send future ActiveRain Daily Drop and weekly emails to your Primary tab.

Step 4:

The final step takes no action. A final confirmation box will appear letting you know that you are done!

I can't say I like the new tabs, but in a way they do make it easier. I can scroll through the promotions just in case they stuck something good in the wrong place, then do a mass delete.

On the whole, I don't much like G-mail, so only use it for back-up. But... the promotions just keep rolling in anyway.

Thanks active rain but we got rid of tabs up soon after Google rolled them out. We thought they were junk.

Love Gmail, and yet sometimes their little hidden changes help me like GoDaddy more at times!

G mail is great, but I disabled the new tabs because I prefer to scroll down to see what comes in.  I can usually immediately identify stuff I don't want to open and just delete it.  But I don't want G mail to make that decision for me :-)

I always go trhu my tabs anyway. They don't "keep" the preferences that I make, so just look everywhere.

I remain reluctant to use gmail for my business although it's fine for personal mail.  I'll make the switch when I see the big corporations doing it instead of using their own domain.

I can't decide whether or not that I like the tabs yet in Gmail. But it may not take me much longer to decide. Sometimes I just don't like change - lol!!

Just another reason for me not to use gmail.  I am too busy selling real estate to have time to keep adapting to these social media platforms changes.

GMail is my back-up email as well.  I noticed the tabs when I opened GMail directly, but since I have them all forwarded to another email account which I view in Outlook, the tabs are not part of the email messages, thus everything appears the same as it always has to me.

Oyyy, I just inadvertently turned them on so I've spent all day "Spring cleaning" my email. As I wrote in my post today, it's actually turned out for the best but I would definitely suggest checking each inbox at least once a day, just in case. But great advice for those who don't want to. And thanks for the option to re-blog - it'll go grand with my post.  Have a terrific day!
