Photographs and videos are an extremely important part of our marketing efforts. This year, I have made a concentrated effort to improve the quality of my photographs which I hope will in turn help my video marketing also.
In May, I joined the Colorado Springs Creative Photography Meetup.Com group. http://www.meetup.com/creative-photography/ . This group was one of a number of groups in the Colorado Springs and Denver areas on Meetup.com that offer photography classes and photo outings. Meetup.com is a large networking site with over 9,000 groups in communities all over the U.S. So, there may Meetup's in your area.
Everyone from beginners to professionals seem to enjoy this group. I have been very inspired by the fun, friendly photographers that I have met.

I’ve attended numerous classes and outings that were hosted by the Creative Photography group. Most of the classes have been free and FUN. The classes that I had to pay for were excellent. I've attended basic classes, lighting classes, photo critiques, photographing fall colors, photographing food, and photojournalism classes. This weekend, I’ve signed up for a class on photographing the night sky and a class on framing and matting photographs.
Charlie, the organizer of the Creative Photography Meetup group, has also done a great job of finding and/or organizing fund raising photography contests that help the host organization to raise money while at the same time presenting a challenge to photographers.
Each event has been a lot of fun. My favorite has been the opportunity to photograph the Rocky Mountain Field Institute’s amazing efforts of rehabilitating the Waldo Canyon burn scar.

If you want to want to improve your photography and make new friends, maybe you can find a photography Meetup.com group in your area.
Note: Some of my other recent blog posts have photographs either taken during a class or that was entered into a recent contest. For example, due to comments on this blog, I decided to enter my photograph of the Garden of the God's "lake" photograph into RMFI's Nature Photography contest. It was selected as a finalist. The public can for their favorite photograph up until November 30th, 2013. Every finalist is a winner in my opinion.
If you want to see the picture, I have an online copy at: http://activerain.com/blogsview/4201190/garden-of-the-gods-lake-2-reasons-photographers-love-it- At the end of the month, most of the finalists have agreed to donate their photographs to RMFI who will recieve the proceeds from a silent auction on the photographs. So far, Andre's photo, pictured above is in the lead.
