Hello, I'm just wondering how many people are packing it in and quitting?  I believe this is and can be the time when carreers are made and business are closed.  I know everyone will say this is the worst time for real estate and no one is buying but I totally disagree.  This can also be looked at as one of the best times to be a real estate salesperson.  We just have to be creative and get retrained to adjust our business strategies or ideas.  Maybe we need to go back to basics and start fresh as if we were new agents.  Personally, I'm not doing as well as I would like but i have more business than some agents I know.  I believe at this time the agents who stick it out and cold call, take floor time and continue to give it a 100 % will benefit like they have in the past.  A lot of agents will give up get an fustrated and never realize how close they came to success.  I hope this helps some agents and gives them motivation to stick it out.  ALL COMMENTS ARE WELCOME THANK YOU!

Yes Real Estate Creativity is very important.  Realtors have to be open to trying different ideas and many of those ideas are found here at Active Rain.  Be sure to follow guidelines on cold calling and observing and following the Do not call list.  A fine of $11,000 could be imposed if your not careful.  I do cold calling for many agents and get a 25% referral fee in return.  I was Rated # 3 out of 16,000 employees for MBNA America Bank prior to Bank of America taking things over and re-naming MBNA to FIA Card Services.  With a strong 7 year telemarketing background I have learned great techniques to apply to any phone call.  I have had some great calls this year!  I manage other call lists for real estate agents while maintaining my own work...it is a win win situation so if I ever run out of anything of my own to work , I always have something to work with other agents...right now things are picking up so I can't wait! :)  Good Luck on Your Real Estate Business,

Never did do the cold calling thing.

I've been in Real Estate for 11 years now and have always done about 90% of my business through past clients, and their family and friends.  I stay in contact and I'm at the point now where I've sold, (and sold again) homes for clients 2 and 3 times as they've decided to upgrade again.

I also use to work FSBO's with great success and I expect that aspect of the job will be getting more and more lucrative in many markets again..

I have cold called in the past. Now I prefer to warm call. I would much rather talk to someone I know, versus, interrupt the life of some stranger.  Repeat and referral business is my bread and butter.

Great post Kevin and very true.  I can't wait for the flyby nighters to get out of the business.  I'm in it for the long haul.  Good luck to you.

This market is great for buyer who are qualified. There is much inventory to choose from and rates are low. Personally I believe it would be wise for Realtors to stick it out.

Look at what is working and do more of the positive and let go of the negative. It is difficult, but most things worthwhile take work.

Thanks for the post Kevin
