Sands Point, NY Real Estate and Private Schools. Recently, one of my Sands Point, NY Home Buyer-Clients contacted me to tell me that they had reservations about purchasing a home in Sands Point, NY. Why, I asked? They informed me that they had Google searched School Districts and found that the Manorhaven Elementary School rated at a 7 out of 10 on a national school rating site. School ratings change annually, so I checked several popular sites & found that indeed, this school rated between 7 & 8 out of 10; (7 is above avg. per GreatSchools.org). Above average is good, but it was worthy of an inquiry.
First I think it's important to clarify, that per my conversation with a high-ranking Port Washington School District official, they confirmed that the zone of Sands Point, NY has “three” different elementary schools. Depending on the specific street that one lives on, their children would attend either: the Manorhaven, Daly or Guggenheim elementary school, (click on school names for streets), each receiving different ratings, all above average. It was explained to me, that the fact is that each school in the district teaches the same syllabus and offers the same programs to all of its students.
These students, the residents of Sands Point and Port Washington, who attend the Port Washington Public School District graduate into the Carrie Weber Middle School and ultimately, Schreiber High School; both rating between 8 & 9 out of 10 nationally, preparing each student for higher education.
Quoting these facts allows residents/parents to clearly understand the quality of public education their school district offers to their children. What about my client’s concerns, have I answered their question? I’ve substantiated their concerns, but as their Buyer Representative ABR* and lifelong resident of Sands Point, I can speak from personal experience and a unique perspective.
I have three children, born and raised in Sands Point; I started their education at the Greenvale School, and then enrolled them into the Port Washington Public School District from Carrie Weber Middle School through Schreiber High School. Presently, they’re all in excellent colleges with beautiful, bright futures. I’ve also represented many clients who have chosen to offer different options to their children, from learning impaired or special needs to specific religious beliefs or blue ribbon schools. As a result, I can offer valuable enrollment information for the Local Private Schools that are available to my clients.
