Short film, big dream. That’s how the Miami Short Film Festival began. The Miami Short Film Festival features films as short as 20 minutes or less. The best short films from around the world have been showcased, since its inception in 2002. The Festival’s dream is to showcase and develop the art form of short filmmaking.

This year the 12th Annual Miami Short Film Festival will be held November 8-15, 2013 in the heart of Coconut Grove – a community known for its passion and support of the arts. The main venue will be the Paragon Grove 13 at 3015 Grand Avenue. Take a look at the short films playing during the festival and buy tickets online in advance at MiamiShortFilmFestival.com.

Short films are true works of art and deserve an arena set aside and devoted to their presentation. Filmmakers, industry executives, Miami locals as well as visitors gather at the festival – seeking new talent. Around 80 short films from more than 39 countries will be showcased and vie for several awards during the festival. Filmmakers are welcomed like celebrities as they walk the red carpet in hopes of winning an award.

The festival’s awards are as follows: Best of Fest, Best of Animation, Best Experimental, Best Documentary, Best Narrative, Best Environmental, Best Local, Best Music Video, Best Mobile Short, Best Tomorrow’s Filmmaker Today, and the Audience Award. Past entries, which have received awards at the Miami Short Film Festival have attained noteworthy success.

To support, honor and recognize short film filmmakers from around the world – that is the Miami Short Film Festival’s mission.

Living in Coconut Grove is a lifestyle of art, film and community filled with local events and culture experiences. For more on what it’s like to live in Coconut Grove, visit JillPenman.com.
