Snow, Snowmobiles and True Love Along the Way. This winter has been perfect for snowmobiles. Here in northern Michigan (Cheboygan), we have had more of our share of snow and visitors are loving it. I haven't seen so many "sleds" in a very long time. Besides the snow, another reason for it is our "Rail To Trails". Check out www.michigan.gov and go to DNR and then trails.
We have a trail system that runs from Gaylord Michigan north through Cheboygan to Mackinaw City, which is approximately 62 miles. From Mackinaw City another trail heads west to Petoskey and in Cheboygan there will be resurfacing of a trail heading east to Alpena. What a terrific ride this is with stops along the way for lodging and wonderful taste treats to get you ready for the next day's adventure.
My husband and I use to snowmobile. Beautiful crisp days, and moon-lite nights of riding, then..this loving couple turned into the "Bickersons". I am not a bit mechanical nor was I brave. If a hill was too steep, I just could not force myself to go down it and up the other side and was sure the menacing, grinding machine would roll over on top of me. My husband would walk back down the other side to me and take my sled safely down and up the hill for me. It wasn't without a few "choice" grumbles I noted. Also I loved to ride slowly and take in all the sights and the beautiful winter wonderland. He was all for speed. Eventually he'd notice I was not behind him and he would wait, and wait until I caught up or he would double back to see what I had gotten myself into. He sold those machines, I didn't ask why. What a sweetheart, he would rather save the marriage then "ride the ride".
AH....Isn't it wonderful when you have someone who cares no matter what.
