FSBOS ARE THE BEST???

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Keller Williams Atlanta Partners

WELL I MUST SAY I DO LOVE THOSE FSBOS, BUT I WANTED TO SHARE WHAT HAPPENED TODAY WITH ONE.

I CALLED LAST WED. TO GIVE A HEADS UP THAT I HAD A REAL BUYER WANTING TO SEE THE HOME. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE WIFE I LET HER KNOW I WOULD CALL WHEN I WAS 10MIN. AWAY. WELL AFTER WAKING UP THIS MORNING I REALIZED THAT WE HAD VERY BAD WEATHER COMING AND I KNEW TODAY WOULD NOT BE A GOOD DAY TO SHOW. AFTER MEETING MY BUYER HE  AGREED. A FEW HOURS PASTED WHEN I GOT A CALL FROM THE KNOW-IT-ALL ANGRY HUSBAND. HE WAS SOOOO RUDE AND ASKED WHY I DIDN'T SHOW HIS HOME TODAY. KEEP IN MIND WE LIVE IN THE SAME AREA. I WONDERED IF HE WATCHED THE LOCAL NEWS. WELL LETS JUST STOP THERE BECAUSE THAT CONVERSATION DID NOT END WELL. I JUST THOUGHT TO MYSELF THE NERVE OF THIS GUY!! I WAS NICE ENOUGH TO SHOW HIS HOME THAT IS WAY OVERPRICED AND HE TALKED TO ME AS THOUGH I WAS GETTING PAID TO!! PEOPLE THESE DAYS!

LESSON LEARNED.....DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON UNMOTIVATED  RUDE SELLERS!!

NEXT....FSBO's usually are FSBO's because they dont like REALTORS. Until they figure out they need one.

FSBOS are FSBOS because they DO think they know it all... Most of them DON'T succeed selling, and will eventually call a Realtor anyway.  Don't waste your time with people like that... He's got a negative attitude because he's not selling.

This guys just got a bug up his you-know-what because he's not getting any bites on his overpriced and poorly marketed property, so why not take it out on you - the Realtor. After all, it's YOUR fault his house isn't selling. Don't take it personally, some people are just plain difficult to deal with.

Who knows, his wife may have had him so busy scrubbing toilets that he hadn't a clue the lid had been blown off the World Congress Center.  I recently had a buyer cancel on me because it might rain.  Remember the snow we had a few weeks ago?  I showed houses in that.  Me and one other agent in Atlanta.  But the true point here is that this seller was expecting you and you did not show.  How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot?

Angela, as you correctly stated, your responsibility is to your client, not to the seller.   If your clients were happy with your decision, move on.  Whether he knows it or not, the seller needs you, more than you need him.

Since you are new to AR, I don't know whether you know this or not, but you can make posts 'Members Only'.  This is a good idea when you want to rant about customers, clients, etc.
