The announcement yesterday of the Braves Moving to Cobb County has created a great deal of controversy and conversation among Atlanta area residents. I expect that this is not a issue that will be resolved quickly. Atlanta area residents seem to want to keep the Braves at Turner Field and from talking with my friends and business associates no one seems to be thrilled with the idea of the Braves moving into Cobb County.
The proposed site for the complex is on the northwest corner of the I75-I285 interchange. The arguement that there are two interstate highways as well as surface roads for easy access does not address the problem of what the increased traffic will do to that area.
Prospect Mortgage has offices in this area, and getting to the office in the morning rush hour traffic can often be a time consuming. Evening rush hour is even worse. The problem as I see it, is that Atlanta has a limited public transportation system and certainly nothing that services the northwest corridor of the metro area.
Whether or not all of those comes to fruition is yet to be seen. I suspect the media will be rehashing this story for quite some time.
