Craigslist TMI - Don't Give Up Leads!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Equator.com

Posting your real estate listings to Craigslist is a balancing act. If you provide the online buyer with too much or too little information, you can greatly reduce the chance of capturing leads from Craigslist.

I clipped this 1-minute video from our Changes to Craigslist webinar we just taught to address the major changes that real estate agents are seeing on Craigslist. Watch the video to learn how not to suffer from "Craigslist TMI" when you post listings!

Craigslist TMI Video (1 Minute)

Want to watch the rest?  Check out the full webinar recording of Changes to Craigslist.  I taught this class for Market Leader taught on November 14th in response to the sheer panic we are hearing from agents about the new Craigslist posting rules. (PS, calm down)

You'll learn about:

  • The most recent changes to Craigslist that are impacting REALTORS,
  • The NEW strategies for Craigslist marketing success, and
  • Diversifying your lead generation to make sure you don't get caught in a mess like this again!

I hope this class is valuable to your business and helps you to build up your lead generation portfolio.

Great video and information. I missed your webinar today but get the general concept.  Don't give them too much info so that they don't go to your site for the added info.

We agree Jack, we think that's true in all advertising too much or too little doesn't work. You need just the right amount of information.

Seems like Craigslist is trying to get Realtors and corporate types off of its site unless they want to pay.

People in my neck of the woods don't even know what Craigslist is.... I have literally put good furniture on there for FREE and no one called.

There is something about timing with craigslist that is key to it. Content almost doesn't matter lol!

Jack, thanks for updating us with CL changes - this triggered many changes on many different sites which were providing the HTML code for marketing on CL. Back to basics, now!

Will check your hour-long video tomorrow - though!

Thanks for sharing.  We barely use CL, so not too panicked there. Good call on diversifying leads...regardless of whether CL is a big part or not.

Jack, the popularity and ease of use of Craigslist just make it a great place to go for leads. The fact that it is free also makes it a favorite. I often wonder how Craigslist makes money....unlike ebay that charges.

Thank you everyone for the feedback.  The bottom line is that Craigslist is a great resource as long as it is used right and you set the right expectations for yourself.  The key with CL is really being consistent!  Being able to diversify your lead sources is going to help you overcome some of the frustration with CL as well.  I believe that by the first of the year CL will make more changes and we will see some type of paid model.  When or if that happens I will do another workshop and walk everyone through those changes.

Yesterday I posted a listing on craigslist ... its been several weeks since I've done that, and I kept it simple.  There are lots of photographs of the property, but all the ad says is "This home in Turtle Rock is simply awesome. To see it, visit www.TurtleRockHomes.com"
