Rites Of Passage: Growing Up, Sleeping Late and Avoiding The Dishes!

Ok, I have to admit, I’m getting really excited!  Why?  Well, thank you for asking.  Let me tell you!

Moriah

As many of you know, our oldest daughter, Moriah, is in the Navy. A Hospital Corpsman, she is currently assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt which is based out of Norfolk, Virginia.  I’m excited because we are going to go and spend Thanksgiving at HER place!

Although I’m a little apprehensive, I’m sure it’s all part of the USS Theordore Rooseveltnormal progression of time when the parents start to go to the “kids” house for holidays.  I plan on sleeping late while she does all the chopping, baking and cooking.  I’ll wander into the kitchen and whine because the food isn’t ready and turn my nose up at green beans.  After dinner I’m sure I’ll have to disappear “just long enough” for someone else to do the dishes.  After all, isn’t this what I learned from her?

Rough Rider of the Week

All kidding aside, we are very proud of her! Of the beautiful woman she has become.  Of the sacrifice she is making for the country she loves.

Of course, I also remember when this she was running around in this…..

Bill and Cyndi the tables have turned! You know when they are grown when you go to "their" home for Thanksgiving. I know you are proud.  Have a good time being taken care of.

Bill and Cyndi, this should be wonderful fun for you!  I remember the first time I did Christmas dinner and the head went out.  I'm sure your daughter will have better luck!

Robert - thank you!  She is excited too!  She's lived on and off base for the past three years either in the barracks or with a friend.  Since this is her first real apartment on her own, we are taking a vehicle full of stuff for her!  Now if she can just find a dining table and chairs before the big day!

Patricia.  Wow - that would be a problem!

Enjoy the time. We have been the center of the Holiday events for years now as my parents are in their 90's. Hopefully some day soon, we will be invited some where else.

Patricia - Thank you!!!  We are so looking forward to our visit this week.

Norma - Hah!  Thank you.  Are you kidding.  I can't wait until our kids have kids of their own.  Now that will be time to really exact parental revenge!! :-)

Ed - I understand.  For the last 8-10 years Christmas has been at our house.  Which I love.  We've still let my Mom have the pleasure of doing Thanksgiving though.  So this will be totally different, instead of going to MY Mom's, I'm going to MY Daughters.  How wonderfully odd!
