Located on South Oakland Avenue between Del Mar and California boulevards, the 40 unit Oakland Towers condominium complex lives up to that well-known 
and very true real estate mantra - location - location - location. The highly convenient and desirable location is close to South Lake Avenue, the Playhouse District, Paseo Colorado and California Institute of Technology with many shopping, dining, entertainment, cultural and educational options. There is access to multiple Gold Line light rail stations as well as the Arroyo Seco Parkway(110) plus the Foothill(210) and Ventura(134) freeways.
The Oakland Towers was built in 1963 as apartments and later converted to condominiums. There are two buildings(385 South Oakland and 395 South Oakland) built around a central courtyard with mature landscaping. Each building has its own lobby, elevator service to all floors and a common laundry area. Some units have installed in-unit laundry connections subject to homeowner association(HOA) board approval according to some residents. There is a pool area and parking is either one or two spaces.
The Oakland Towers condos range in size from studios to two and three bedrooms. All are single level with spacious rooms and amazing storage.
There is currently one Oakland Tower condo for sale. It is a two bedroom/two bath unit with approximately 1506 square feet which is listed at $499,000. 
According to our multiple listing service(mls) there have been three closed transactions in 2013 year-to-date(as of November 14, 2013). This year’s sales range in price from $380,000 to $433,000 with an average sales price of $414,333(median $430,0000). All have sold above the last list price for an average 102.05% and an average price per square foot of $335.70. One of those units sold twice -- once as fixer for $379,000 in June and again for $433,000 in September after renovations.
For full year 2012, there were two sales: a two bedroom unit for $380,000 and a three bedroom for $512,000.
