What's The Size of Your Primary Market Area? All Responses APPRECIATED.

Like many of you, I read a lot about online marketing, what websites should contain, etc.

I occured to me that the size of the primary market you work in obviously must have a lot to do with the success of any site.  Many companies/authors refer to it as the "Effective Service Area" or something similiar.

Here is my question.  What is the size/population of your primary residential market.  About how many residential properties are in your primary market?

Seconday question... How do you rate your online marketing efforts and are the online leads you are generating meeting your expectations?

Thank you very much for your response.

We focus on the Triangle area, which includes about 7 counties.  Might be a little different focus for a local custom builder than an agent.

Jo Ann - I'm giving this a shot... every month now I post the Local Housing Statistics to Localism, via my blog. I also email to all my sellers & builders. There is definitely a LOT of homes on the market in my area. The reports indicates that number and also the number of sales. As for marketing efforts, I dod a lot of local advertising, and have not begun to rely on actual leads from my blog. Right now I guess I'm just "reinforcing" my efforts with the blog, and hope that as it grows and I continue to get "google & yahoo points," I'll get more noticed. Thanks for the post and Good luck!

Jo Ann I am sort in a predicament like you.  I am outside of Detroit.  Detroit and Michigan homes for sale get a lot of internet hits.  But I want the suburb business.  But the individual cities do not get many hits and counties don't either.  But I am doing a shot gun approach to 5 cities.  It is working out well so far but I have spend a lot of time doing it.
