How Long Before Ocala Gets Commercial Air Service?

Ocala AirportAlthough it is not in the current plan, Ocala airport is improving.

Ocala eyeing major improvements to the airport

"The city of Ocala has completed about 90 percent of its master plan for Ocala International Airport and part of the plan investigates the best way to phase in development of the airport's west side.

Airport Director Matthew Grow said the city is not changing the scope of the airport. It will remain a general aviation airport, which means it will not offer commercial air service. But the city has invested $5 million in infrastructure -- water, sewer, electric, telecommunications and roads -- to lure companies to locate their businesses at the airport.

"With the push for logistical-type businesses in Central Florida -- in Ocala -- it only makes sense to use the airport in that capacity," Grow said."

With the growth of businesses in Ocala, we predict Ocala will get commercial service withing 5-10 years.

Would love to see Ocala get commerical air service.  My parents live there and its getting harder for them to drive to Charlotte to see us, and their grandkids and great grand kids and to get to Orlando airport is a bit difficult for them.  Direct service Ocala to Charlotte would be great!!!!   Keep pushing for it!

Spent a lot of time in Ocala attending horse shows across from the airport.  If we did not drive from Houston we would fly to Tampa and make the drive down.

It would be nice if you did have an airport.

 

ps I love Ocala.
