When a small group of volunteers planned the first Gobble Jog in 2003, they had no idea how quickly the event would grow into one of the best attended and most beloved holiday festivities in the South. The 1,400 original runners helped raise $29,000 that year and the Gobble Jog was literally “off and running”.

Today, over 10,000 runners and walkers pour into the historic Marietta Square on Thanksgiving morning to kick off their family day with the fun and excitement of a great event for a great cause. The proceeds now exceed $400,000 and continue to benefit MUST Ministries, one of Georgia’s recognized servant leaders.

The Gobble Jog is one of a series of races being monitored by the Guinness Book of World Records that will determine the largest number of participants/runners in a multi-venue event. Thanksgiving races all over the country have banded together to take the world record which is currently in Malaysia. Let's do this for MUST Ministries... and the USA!

5K Walk/Run
The 5K course starts on East Park Square and travels down Cherokee Street.  The course turns at a mild slope after it crosses North Marietta Parkway.  The course turns right at Freyer Drive, then right at Chikkasaw Drive and left on Pine Street..  The course turns left again at Allgood Road and makes another left at Chicopee Drive.  This is the hardest part of the course, as it has a substantial grade as you make your way up to Kennestone Hospital.  Once you cross over Cherokee Street onto Margaret Avenue, a water station is there so you can refuel.  The home stretch leads you down Church Street back to Marietta Square, to the finish line.

Jean and John,

What an inspiring event, especially since it generated its own momentum, and brings in so many dollars for charitable purposes. A
