Hmm… Am I a good agent?
Of course, I am great :), but to tell you the truth, it is a very good question. Because the honest answer is “It depends”.
It really does…
Asking this question for me is like asking “how to find a good doctor?” Would I ask this question?
No, I would ask a more specific question, something like “How to find a good cardiologist”, or “How to find a good otolaryngologist” or whichever specialty I need.
My friend Daniel is a terrific ophthalmologist, an MD, but is being an MD enough to choose him to help me at time of heart attack?
Probably not.
So, if that’s my problem, I will be looking for a cardiologist, and if I run into trouble with vision, then ophthalmologist... I will be looking for a specialist.
If I look at myself as an agent then I can say that I would be:
1. Your best agent if you are thinking about condo-hotels in the area. You are highly unlikely to find a better one.
2. Your very good specialized agent if you are looking to buy a condo in the area, especially vacation condos. There are only two dozens of agents who know it as well as I do.
3. Your decent agent if you are looking to buy houses in the area. There are agents who are better.
4. Your average agent if you are looking to buy commercial. I once worked as commercial agent, but I am not doing it full time and to be great, you gotta be doing it full time and some. There are definitely better agents
Besides, there are areas, where you blindfold me and I will have no problem finding a property, and there are areas, which I am familiar with, but they are not where I spend most of my time.
There are areas where I know my way around better than any GPS, and there areas where I need my GPS
So, when someone is looking for a great agent, and they approach me, I would first have to ask what they are looking for. And then I can answer.
And no, NAR does not know it no matter how they match agents.
Only I really know...
