Working in the North Metro counties of the Twin Cities I see townhomes as an affordable and low maintance option for home owners.
The Real Estate market is improving. Prices are rising. When prices were low a lot of townhomes came on the market as short sales and foreclosures. For a while they were hard to sell, but as soon and the market turned the corner the town houses in the Twin Cities area sold fast and prices rose.
However, townhome prices seem to rise at a slower pace and especially in some areas just outside the Twin Cities.
Some of the best deals on townhomes are in Isanti County. You can find both one level townhomes and 2BR quad units for under $100k. There are 3-4 bedroom options in the $100-$125k price range too. See Isanti County Townhome home listings here!
Another hot bed area for townhomes is Otsego and Elk River MN. Otsego has been a leader in affordable townhomes the past couple of years.
