A little insight on Black Friday....

It's that time of year again the weather is getting cooler and are hearts seem to be getting warmer with Christmas right around the corner. For many people the kick off to the holidays season is Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year! Most of the big retail stores will open inconveniently early for those of us that may be in a Thanksgiving Day comma due to turkey overload. I myself have never been able to get out of bed early enough to take part in this marathon shopping event. This is what sparked my interest in finding out the truth about Black Friday and what alternatives there may be to allow me to sleep in and still score a bargain...

A new trend with the big retailers is starting Black Friday early... How early? Well lets just say you may have to cut your Thanksgiving Day festivities a little short to take part. Some stores, such as Best Buy, will be starting Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving Day. Best Buy will start sales at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. This may be appealing to some who have early dinners and may want to sleep in or even work on Black Friday.

Another alternative is online shopping. Yes online retailers, including Overstock.com, want their piece of the Black Friday pie too. Overstock.com has deals on  already discounted items offered on Black Friday. Online shopping has become increasingly popular and now we can take part in Black Friday still wearing pajamas in the comfort of our own homes!

The only other advice I can give is to shop around! Some Black Friday "deals" are only lures to get you through the door. You may be able to find better deals from retailers like Amazon and EBay. For example the Black Friday deal for the HP Envy Touch Smart 17-inch laptop for $799.99 (regularly $999.99), being offered at Best Buy, I recently purchased refurbished through Groupon for $500.00. The laptop works great and has not had any issues so sometimes it is smart to look into refurbished items to save even more this season.

What ever your plans are for Black Friday we hope you take the time to enjoy Thanksgiving with loved ones. We at Pond Spring Village are thankful for our family, friends and wonderful community! If you or someone you know are in the market for a home in an active adult community in Connecticut we would love for you to come for a visit. We are located in Beacon Falls in the Naugatuck Valley. Feel free to stop by one of our open houses every Saturday and Sunday from 12-3 p.m. or contact Linda Mayfield or Ken Shove for a private showing!
