If you've been in any store lately you've undoubtedly noticed that the holidays have sprung upon us once again.

If children are on your list for gift giving this year be sure to keep safety in mind! Here are a few points to guide you, whether you are making or buying toys.
- How old is the person receiving the toy? Make sure gifts are age and skill level appropriate.
- What interests them?
- How durable is the toy? If it's not constructed well, the wrapping paper may last longer. Well, wrapping paper is just fun anyway.
- Speaking of wrapping paper, small children (and pets) are in danger when plastic containers aren't disposed of properly.
- What's the risk for the toy catching fire or being toxic? Emergency rooms during the holidays are no more fun than any other day.
- How will the toy be cared for? Are there special washing instructions?
- Don't forget about proper storage. As we get older, toys strewn about create special dangers.
Last, but certainly not least, is supervision. Children of all ages love to show off their toys and they don't always share with joy. Best to keep a watchful eye to keep the festivities on a positive note.
You may be curious why I'm sharing such a post so early in the season. If you're anything like me, you'll be caught up in the preparation of Thanksgiving (next week) that when you turn around to take a breath - it will be January.
Plan ahead and plan on being safe. Even if we don't see each other again this year, we owe it to each other to touch base in January.
As always, let's foresee the possibilities . . . and get results!
