Last night, we wrapped up another Financial Peace University session. For us, it was our 8th class we facilitated together.
We gave the opportunity to everyone to share what the class meant to them. Here's what they said:
- The budget is hard but it was an eye-opener.
- When we started using the cash envelope system, we bought things differently.
- It was the first time I saved money, went to the store and bought a pair of shoes. That whole task was planned.
- I've always heard alot of what Dave Ramsey had taught, but never in one congruent whole. Lots of myths about money were debunked.
- If it weren't for the emergency fund, I would have gone right to the credit card to pay for the emergency.
- I'm surprised 30% of Americans have paid-for houses. I was surprised at that figure. I guess paying off my mortgage is possible!
One of the best things I've heard from the class was a testimonial from a lady (perhaps in her mid-50s). She said, "My husband and I are married for 23 years. For the first time, we came together, worked on the budget together, put our priorities together. We've never had that communication before".
Handling finances is more than just head knowledge about what to do with money. It's about having a different perspective. It involves a spiritual side as well. How you plan to handle your finances once you have that changed perspective is life-changing.
May I encourage you to take a Financial Peace University session near you?
If you want to watch/ listen to Dave Ramsey's talk show, here it is.
