It seems like everyone is fixated by recession talk. Everywhere I look people want to talk about recession. Turn on the local news or the 24-hour cable news, and you're treated to one dismal economic statistic after another.
History is a wonderful thing, even in Brazil, where I came from it is the same thing...you cannot imagine how many recessions we had before, and let me tell you one very important fact: recessions are temporary conditions. I believe USA never faced something like this before, I remember 4 years ago when one American dollar could buy 3 Brazilian reais. Now that is not happening anymore, the reason is that Brazil one more time is out of recession. Is this good?? Yes and no, yes because I love to see my people growing and finally getting on their foot, no because purchases now are more expensive than ever before.
Buying real estate in Latin America now is not that cheap anymore, few years ago you could buy a wonderful house, ocean front for $100,000 dollars, now probably you will spend $200k for the same property. It is still a good investment.
That proves one more time that when you have the money to invest this is the time...recession, crisis, whatever name we call, when you have the money you have the gold in your hands... buy now, invest now, and be happy later!!
We've never had a recession that hasn't been temporary. At some point the economy will start growing faster again. Meanwhile, consumers continue to spend and businesses continue to do business, even during recessions. I would never suggest that you ignore negative economic news, that would be foolish. Just take it with copious grains of salt.
And let's be positive, especially during an election year. I am pretty comfortable on my own skin....yes I am Brazilian....trust me... is just another cycle in our economy...
