Stroke... Recognize The Symptoms

We have a dear friend who suffered a stroke a few years ago. This is what we need to know.

Ask them to

SMILE

TALK

Raise Both Arms

Stick out their Tongue

If the tongue is crooked or trouble with any of the above tasks... call 9-1-1

A neurologist says, IF we can get to a stroke victim in time, the effects can be reversed.

The stroke must be recognized, diagnosed and the patient receive proper medical attention within 3 hours!

Time is of the Essence!

How to recognize the symptoms?

Ask them to

Hi Margaret, A man that is like a father to me had a massive stroke 3 years ago and they did not treat it within the allocated time because he has a pacemaker. He lost use and mobility of the right side and his speech. Therapists have been able to get the speech within a reasonable understanding level. These strokes are the saddest. There is no experience quite like seeing a mature man weep.

My dad was having a stroke caused by an aneurysm.

I was not thereand my family had no idea of any symptoms.

Dad is paralyzed on one side now because of it.

If they had at least called me, I could have talked them through it.

This is important...Learn the signs and don't just blow it off!
