When you go to sell your home, your Realtor may suggest that you paint a few rooms to make the home more marketable....more appealing to buyers. Don't be put off by our comments...you may have beautiful paint colors in your home, but sometimes, neutral works best!! Also, you may feel like painting is a HUGE undertaking. The time, the money, the hassle, the MESS! Trust me...we've all been there! When I think about painting, I cringe! All I see is blue tape everywhere!!! You know  you're with me on that!! But in all honestly, painting is the cheapest update you can make with the highest return of investment!!

I am currently preparing my own home for sale, so my Husband and I hired painters. Normally, we'd paint ourselves. I've painted my whole house...at least twice. I'm done...:) Time for someone else to do it!! We hired Certa Pro in Bel Air, MD. They were awesome!! Need a painter...call Dave! He's phenomenal with picking paint colors and they even have a designer they can send out to your house to help. How great is that?? But, back to my point....Painting!! Here are some before/after pictures of the painting that we did in my home.

Bathroom re-doBedroom re-do

Our Bathroom used to be the pale purple....builder grade light fixture, walls destroyed from my fabulous wall paper removal....it needed to be updated...ASAP!!  We painted it Pewter...LOVE it!! Totally transformed the room and made it more modern and warm.

Our bedroom was a sage green...hadn't been painted in 10 years....needed to go too!! We painted it a dark plum brown and ecru...LOVE it!! It really is amazing how paint can make the room feel totally different!!

All this painting only took 2 days!! Yes, we had to live with a mess for 2 days, but in the end, it was so worth it and our home looks like a brand new home!!! Our value just went up!! Did yours??

So, happy painting!!!! And Call Dave from Certa Pro in Bel Air, MD!! Tell him I sent you!! :)

Then there are many of us who not only hate to paint and would prefer to leave it for a buyer.

Of course, the home must be properly discounted for condition and that fact noted in the REMARKS.

The problem with many sellers is that they pay a pro to do the painting and then add that cost to the list price when it has added not one dime of market value.

Great idea, all too often that had to have southwest orange just won't work for most buyers, a quick and easy neutral paint over will do wonders for potential buyers perceptions!

Love these before and afters!  You're right, neutral does work best.  But a few pops of fun color, as you have perfectly demonstrated in these pictures, can really give it that wow factor.
