I live and work in Frisco Texas. As Wikipedia says: Frisco is an affluent city in Collin and Denton counties in Texas and a rapidly growing suburb of Dallas, approximately 25 minutes from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport. But one of the things I like best at working in my city with a great group of real estate agents is the amount we try to give back.
There is a non-profit organization that started in Plano Texas called City House. This
organization has branched out to Frisco. The short and not so sweet of this is that in these affluent cities there were also homeless children. While I think we all agree that regardlesshttp://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/newsite/Pages/default.aspx of where whether it this occurs in urban cities, affluent suburbs or rural communities, homeless children deserve better.
I bring this up today because yesterday the office I work in was able to present to City House a check for over $46,000. An office that has less than 150 real estate agents collaborating with volunteers held a golf tournament with a silent auction and through their efforts raised this money to help the children of this city.
I have been involved with the corporate United Way campaigns where management practically garnishes the wages of its employees and this certainly benefits this great organization. I belong to the Frisco Sunrise Rotary Club which also does great work. Seeing the efforts of our agents and the people around this wonderful city certainly made me feel something even more.
You see a real estate office may have a few employees of a corporation. The rest are made up of contractors who hopefully enjoy friendly “coopetition.” Let’s face it we all sell into the same market yet the majority of us try to help each other. It is this group of competitors that can come together, make the effort to put aside our competition and work together for a greater good that made this great impression on me.
I hope all of you contribute in some way or another to something that has meaning to you. It almost becomes a selfish addiction as you start to want that feeling you get when helping others especially those not so fortunate. I think volunteering your time and or resources should be done throughout the year. During the holidays it is even more important. Whether you have money or can just spare a few hours, try it out and see how addicting helping others can be.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season with health, happiness and peace.
