Rained out in Arizona

The weather: everybody talks about it, but nobody does anything.

Many real estate agents in the Phoenix area were talking about the rain that came in late Thursday night. Should we go ahead with our Saturday open houses or not? I know that sounds ridiculous to our friends in the northwest or the northeast or, really, anywhere but here. You go on with your lives, rain or shine. But in the desert, when it rains, we all stay indoors and drink hot chocolate, imagining that it's just too miserable to go outside.

I decided to cancel my open house. I didn't notice any other open house signs either. Maybe we all wimped out.

It's still raining and I'm thinking of two different friends' weddings planned for this evening. Both of them were outdoor wedding receptions because that's what we do in the desert--we have outdoor weddings in November.

It was easy for me to cancel my open house. But it will be a huge job to move the outdoor wedding reception, and all the trappings that come with it, to the indoors. So here I am talking about the weather, but I can't do anything about it!

John & Shannon,

Weather does play a factor in open houses.  Sunny days help in our area.  Hopefully, those weddings worked out!
