ASP DESIGNATION

Do any of you have your ASP designation?   Accredited Staging Professional

I recently took this newly offered course.  I just wonder how many others are out there that have taken this and what you thought about it.  I took it with another Realtor from my office and neither one of us were impressed.  There were several other Agents in the class that felt the same way.

Tammy, three of us from the same office recently took the ASP class in Indiana, (we are from Owensboro, KY, but this was the closest class) and we thought it was a good use of our time. Sure, it could have been better. Yes, it was a little expensive, but it was useful information. ( I have been a Broker for 10 years, so it's not like I didn't already know most of the information)

We went ahead and staged a listing that has been on the market this weekend. It will be interesting to see how much it helps sell it now.  We felt like it was key is to go ahead and start applying what we just learned, and it is A LOT of extra work while being "creative", but we feel our clients are worth it. Maybe your teacher wasn't that great? Or were you expecting it to be different? You said you weren't impressed, why do you think that is?

We felt the entire first day of the course was simply them pushing their products and hyping up the company.  We didn't learn anything beneficial about staging the whole first day!  The second day was better, the first half of the day was spend learning quick tips and then we actually went to stage a house but it was really unorganized!  We had lunch which was sub sandwiches and chips and a cookie brought to the house we were staging.  About 50 of us stood packed in like sardines in this kitchen eating our lunch (it was now 1:30) and then going to our assigne areas. BTW We had 2 houses to stage and we split in half since  we did have a class of over 100 people.

I enjoyed our instructor.  She did a good job but I don't feel like I learned anything and I certainly don't think it needed to take 2 full days.  I'm excited to use my designation now that I have it but wouldn't recommend it to others.  I would have much rather put my time and efforts into my GRI.
