When I am not showing houses I have a family routine. When my oldest was 5 and I was pregnant with my last child my husband discovered roller skating. I don't mean normal going around the neighborhood or going around the rink. I mean figure skating (like ice skaters except on quads). My oldest son wanted to skate but didn't know how. I was 6 months along and there was no way I was getting on skates until the baby was born. My husband agreed to take our oldest son to skating lessons.
Each of my boys enjoyed this routine. It used to be a Saturday morning routine but the rink in Boise closed so now it is a Sunday morning routine in Nampa Idaho at the Rollerdrome. For years I ignored them and enjoyed my free time. I was the harassed mom of 3 children 6 years apart. Now my oldest is in Northern Virginia. My middle son is in upstate New York. I am beginning to realize that my youngest will probably also leave the Treasure Valley when he graduates.
Every Sunday we get my youngest from the College of Idaho and the guys skate. I visit with the other parents or I will get on the web and do real estate. Sometimes I just play games. They are really good. Of course my hubby has been doing it for 21 years. After skating we usually take the youngest to lunch. Today I will sign a lease in Caldwell when we take our son back to the college. When I have business I skip the routine. Life is short and my son will soon leave me. I want to enjoy him while I can without getting in his way.
