Georgia Tech Off Campus HousingI'm often contacted by parents of Georgia Tech students as they look for alternative living arrangements from the typical dorm situation on campus. And so the question is, what is available in Off Campus Housing Near Georgia Tech University?

Well, first off, the rather rapid rebound in the Midtown Atlanta condo market will make finding a "bargain" a real challenge. Also, I find that most parents don't want their son or daughter isolated by themselves, and are looking for a 2 bedroom condominum.

Hit the rewind button about 6 months, to a year, and that was easily possible for $150-175,000. Such is not the case anymore. I search today took me to $250,000 before I was able to find a 2-bedroom close to the Georgia Tech Campus.

Cornerstone Village Condominiums Midtown AtlantaCornerstone Village has long been a favorite of Georgia Tech students and parents alike. This condominium community is located at 5th and Peachtree Streets. Going West from Peachtree, 5th Street goes right through Tech Square and across the Downtown Connector onto the main campus. A straight-shot walk if you will! But even the prices at Cornerstone have risen dramatically. 2 years ago, you could of purchased a 1 bedroom for $50-60,000. YES, you heard that figure right! Now those same condos are selling for $100,000 and are starting to inch above that price point. Look for a 2 bedroom and there are not any listed as of this post! I suspect the next one to hit the market will arrive around $195,000, if not more.

When parents look at other options for Off Campus Housing Near Georgia Tech University, you will find the new high-rise buildings like Viewpoint Midtown, Spire Midtown, Metropolis and the newest building, 1010 Midtown. Other options include Peachtree Lofts and 805 Peachtree.

Parents might find options in the Atlantic Station area at The Art Foundry or Element Condominiums. Here, the challenge is that the student needs to have an on-campus parking permit as you cannot walk to the campus from these buildings, despite their close-in location.

If you are a parent of a Georgia Tech student and are considering Off Campus Housing Near Georgia Tech University, you'll need to be ready to pounce fast on a "value priced" condominium, or be ready for those higher prices.

That's great you have that chart with links to Atlanta homes by zip code.  It's good to have parents of college students look at real estate investments for themselves and their kids!

Some of those parents who purchased a couple of years ago are going to likely get a year of tuition back on their sales in a couple more years.  WOW.
