Think of a delicious French bakery atmosphere plus a quaint cafe and you get Jean Jacques Bakery in Richmond, VA. Now celebrating its 30th Anniversity, this Carytown fixture not only offers a wide array of fresh pastries, pies, cakes and bread, but also this bakery is much more than simply a bakery alone. For example, their lunches are very delicious and made fresh on the spot.
When the bakery is full of customers and very busy, it often does require some waiting. If you're in a major hurry and need something quick, there are fast food options in the area. However, I always find that the food is well worth the wait!
Their quiches are wonderful, and typically two or three kinds are available. My personal favorites are Quiche Lorraine and Broccoli and Cheddar. In additional, the soups are made fresh, also. My personal favorite in the soup department is tomato parmesan! The soup has a lot of density and flavor to it, which I like.
The next time you visit Carytown, in Richmond, VA, just remember to stop by historic Cary Court, which is within Carytown itself. This late 1930s era shopping center was renovated several years ago and now definitely looks better than ever. Also, it's within the U-shaped Cary Court that Jean Jacques Bakery is found. I highly recommend making the trip to this delectable bakery and cafe experience!
The reflection on the bakery's glass front shows a nearly full parking lot in Cary Court.
