The day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 29, 2013) kicks off the Holiday Celebration at Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia.
The festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the opening of the stores. Get over there early and let your kids compete in the Gingerbread Man Mile (how many times did I read the words 'Run,run as fast as you can! You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man,' to my kids?). After they complete the run, they can do some skating (opens at 9 a.m.) while you fill your bags with presents and get a jump on your shopping!
The highlight of the Holiday kick-off is the Parade. This event involves the whole community. Grab a spot along the route and enjoy balloons, music, community groups and the arrival of Mrs. and Santa Claus. The parade runs from 11 to 12 noon.
The kids can visit with Santa beginning at 12:30 p.m. and continuing until 4:30 pm. Santa's studio will be located next to Skate Shop. Donations will be accepted for a 5x7 portrait and all proceeds benefit South Lakes High School Chorus.
If you decide to run home for a bit, be sure to come back for the Tree Lighting and sing-along at 6:00 p.m.
The carriage rides will begin at 6:30 p.m. for a $5 donation per person (children under 5 ride free) you can enjoy a ride around the Town Center. All proceeds from the Carriage Rides will benefit Volunteer Fairfax!
Lastly, be sure to stop by on Friday, or another time during the holiday season, and check out the Gingerbread Village that is set up in the Hyatt Hotel Lobby.
Friday is a special day at Reston Town Center. Make plans now to be part of the Holiday Celebration!
