Sally Weatherley, a wonderful stager in Vancouver shows the beauty of texture in a room.

It is important to evoke a feeling of home from the Buyer. They should want to sit down and enjoy the room. You want them to wish they lived in your home. As Sally shows, varying textures can create greater appeal.

LET'S TALK TEXTURE - HOME STAGING VANCOUVER

Variety is the spice of life.  Creating a stage with many different textures, creates warmth, interest and delight.  Can you imagine a home buyer's heart beating just a little faster at the thought of lounging on a smooth, leather sofa, curled under a soft, scrumptious faux throw?  Texture plays a very important part in creating a pleasing environment.  Let's break it down with a few examples...

West Vancouver home staging

Natural elements often contain the most interesting textures.  This nubbly, gnarly twig almost looks alive, with its twists and turns.  The twig is laying on a smooth, finished, wooden coffee table.  Now let's add a completely different texture with the cushions in the background.  There's the soft, fluffy, ephemerial, cream cushion to the left, the tighter, darker faux animal fur in the centre, and the knitted, grey, wool cushion.  Again, three different textures that compliment and add contrast all at the same time.

Now let's take a step back.  What textures do you see now?  There's the smooth, leather sectional, the fluffy, soft white rug, the sleek, industrial, stainless steel counters in the background, and the natural, twisty, turvy dried grape vine art on the wall.  There's also the smooth, clear, glass surface of the side table, and the glass, green candle.  Oh, and don't forget that scrumptious, "please wrap me up in a bundle", faux throw on the sectional!

Home staging Horseshoe Bay

This home is a West Coast Contemporary style home in West Vancouver. To stay true to the design of the home, we really wanted to continue to bring in natural, textural elements.  Here we have some gorgeous, textured pottery.  You really want to reach and and touch the curcular indents on these wonderful vases.

Home Staging is not just about throwing a bunch of furniture in a room and calling it a day.  There's huge thought behind not only the style, scale and pieces of furniture used in a stage, but also the accessories that compliment the furniture and the home.  A Professional Home Stager will know how to add variety and spice that will speak to a home buyer's emotions.
