The holiday season is in full swing and The Blue Sky Home Group is giving back. The team will again be supporting the National CASA Organization.
What is CASA?
CASA is an association including more than 900 affiliate groups that are dedicated to representing the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Judges handling these abuse and neglect cases appoint CASA volunteers to advocate for children, and help find the best and safest home for them. Since there are more of these heartbreaking cases than there are volunteers, judges often appoint their worst cases to CASA volunteers. Last year over 77,000 CASA volunteers helped approximately 234,000 children find safe, long term and permanent homes.
Learn About Becoming a CASA Volunteer
The team has been given a list of CASA kids in need of Christmas gifts, and each day the team will post the age, gender and wish list of a child from the list on their Facebook page so followers can “adopt” the kids and purchase gifts for them. These are children who would most likely not receive any sort of Christmas gifts without this program. The ages of kids vary from infants to teenagers, and most of the children ask for necessities such as coats, boots, and even gift cards to grocery stores for food.
How You Can Help
Reach out to the Blue Sky Home Group and let them know you would like to purchase gifts for a CASA kid. The team will then arrange a time to pick up the gifts. Presents need to unwrapped, and cannot contain electronics or cash.
Last year The Blue Sky Home Group was able to collect multiple gifts for over 40 kids and hopes to at least triple that number this year.
