Wordless Wednesday -- Missing BB

By

BB is my cat.  I don't know how old he is, but I reckon he's about 18.  He showed up years ago (and if I could remember what year it was, it might help with figuring out his age).  I had found two other cats, or they found me, and each evening when I would feed the two, BB would show up.  He would wait patiently under a bush, just across the driveway always watching and I would leave food out for him. He got brave and started coming up to eat.

This is a recent photo.  He's been coming in to the house for about a year or so.  Never used to, didn't like my dog Molly.  But BB always ventures nears once he feels safe.

Today he wasn't around.  That's not like him.  He wasn't inside when I got up, didn't show up for breakfast and wasn't around for dinner.  He's in the house a lot because it's cold outside so I noticed his absence right away.

I couldn't help but recall reading about Chris Ann Cleland's Worst Thanksgiving Ever post from last year.  I hope this isn't going to be mine this year.

11/30/13 Update:   BB had been gone for five days now.  I believe he was old, and isolated himself to die.  He never appeared sick, but one never knows with aging pets if they are ill or not.  I will miss BB with all my heart.  He was a good cat, and was the pet that lived with me the longest.

Carla, I had a cat once that as he got older he would go missing for a day or two or more at a time. The neighbors would often bring him home to me. Hope the same happens with BB. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and BB!

Hi Lottie . . . going on day 3 and he's still AWOL.  I do believe this will be the first pet that I will never know what happened to him.  I suspect the coyotes though.  We have a pack in the area.  Thank you for your concern!!

I am so sorry, Carla.  Three days is a long time.  Whenever my outdoor cat doesn't come home, I worry about what happened to him too.  Last night, yes, Thanksgiving, he decided to pull an all nighter. Not cool.

Whatever happened, or wherever B.B. is I am sure that he knew you loved him.  Sending you big hugs.

Hi Lisa . . . thanks!

Hey Chris Ann -- yes this is day 3 now, and I think I had him 18 years, so he might have been 19 or so.  I think it was just his time.  I miss him, and I'm happy that he was a good pet for me all these years.  I remember your loss last year.

Hi Bob . . . Thank you for your concern.  I think I can "call it" on this.  BB has left the building.  It's sad, but I think he went off to go to the big kitty box in the sky.  I believe he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  He was about 18 years old as I reckon.  And he left the pack, which is natural.  I am having my memories now and I loved him a lot.  He was a good cat.  The happy ending is that he had a very good, long life, he was well loved and well-treated.  For 18 years, he had a better life than many who suffer on this planet.
