Pre-Plans for the Holidays 2013
I always have a long list of things to do at this time of year. Most do not get done but this year I am determined to make the list shorter and hopefully get it all done.
Here is my New 2013 List
- First, this weekend we will drag out the Christmas ornaments and our cute (fake) tree and start decorating.
- Second, sort through the accumulation of ornaments and decorations and whittle them down to a manageable level. Then donate the ones that do not make the cut to our local thrift store.
- Third, complete my Christmas card list for Australian relatives and friends and send out cards by no later than next week. Otherwise they will not get them until New Year.
- Fourth, complete all other Holiday cards and send by 15th December.
- Fifth and by no means last, Clean out my closets and donate to the local thrift store. I am halfway done and aim to be finished by Christmas.
Vacation Plans
It has become an almost annual event to take out boat over to Victoria (Vancouver Island, BC) for the days leading up to Christmas. Victoria is magic around this time of year. This is, of course, weather permitting but it is amazing how often the weather is calm at that time.
The marina is located just below the famous Empress Hotel and their historic Parliament house (see night photo from our boat). I consider the marina the best seat in the house when it comes to views. We are right downtown and within a very short walk to shops, pubs and afternoon tea cafes.
One of the main attractions is the 30-40 Christmas trees that are on display at the Empress Hotel each year. Businesses compete to make the best and tree decorations according to the theme of their business. Cool idea and a great fund raiser as you get to vote on your favorites for a loony or a toony for each vote.
I am sure there will be more plans but this year we will take it eas and enjoy friends, family and get ready for a properous New year.
