For one reason or another, I enjoyed the day after Thanksgiving, a whole lot better than the actual holiday. I got up early, and used most of the leftover turkey, while making Turkey Ala King. After lunch, 3 of my granddaughters piled into bed, to view the latest 2012 version of "Kon Tiki." Reuben, my cat decided to join them.
What are you most thankful for this year? For me, it was about family, friends, and accomplishing maintenance and improvements to my home.
I had to chuckle at a daughter's remark during dinner yesterday. Going around the table, we each proclaimed what we're most grateful for. She commented, "I'm grateful to father for wishing me 'not a happy, easy, or peaceful life, but an INTERESTING life' and I thank my mother for setting that example." What do you do with a kid that says something like that:-)
"Kon Tiki" is an excellent movie, by the way. It's based on the true adventure of Thor Heyerdahl, who set out to prove that Peruvians first inhabited Polynesia, not Asians.
Myrl,
What an adorable picture of your granddaughters and Ruben knows where the most comfortable spots in the house are, as well as where he would be loved. What a neat remark your daughter made, she found her way thanks to you. Sometimes, I have noticed some of the happiest people are those who lives did not go "the right way". Those whose did are often lackluster and uninteresting...from my limited viewpoint. LOL A
Myrl: If you have an "easy" life, you don't know how to handle those "tough" moments that come up. And they will! For those of us who have had an "interesting" life, we can take them in stride much better.
Lou - It is no accident that there is a little plaque near the bed, which reads, "You know you are getting older when 'Happy Hour' is a nap."
William - Thank goodness for that little brother, who provided an ear to your voice:-)
Alexandra - I suspect it is no accident, that my daughter is working toward a doctorate in Clinical Psychology:-)
Hella - So true! I don't get as excited about little tribulations any more. . .They're all just part of life!
Hi Myrl....Now Christmas is on the Way...Your Cat, like most likes to be where the action is...I'm sure I've seen "Kon Tiki" when I was Young...ha Many Moons ago.
Cheers, enjoy your Saturday
Myrl,
Cute granddaughters and apparently very savy as well, sounds like have great examples to follow!
Myrl,
Your granddaughters are beautiful and wise. I can only imagine what they will be telling their own children some day... perhaps people our age don't want to know!
It's a cat's life. They live without having to take orders, advice, or recommendations from anyone. They can stretch out, cuddle up, sleep, eat and do most anything they want and I have never met anyone who tried to stop them. Maybe we should all take more lessons from the cat! A cat DEFINITELY has an interesting life!
Myrl, That is a nice post, and a great compliment from your daughter! Have a great day!
I love this picture, Myrl. Reuben looks so comfortable and loved. Hope your weather is good.
Hi Myrl, beautiful granddaughters, and yes so is Reuben, the cat! I love Thanksgiving just wished it was not so close to Christmas so we could enjoy it even more!
Myrl, sounds like an absolutely beautiful day to spend with the family. Love the cat's position!
