Today is known as Small Business Saturday. Like other cities and towns across the country, Richmond, VA, is giving attention to small businesses today. According to local TV station NBC-12, this annual event started in the Greater Richmond area four years ago and always is the day after Black Friday.
Do you know someone who works at a local small retail shop? There's a very good chance that it's a small business.
In fact, some people already are on Twitter today supporting those businesses that are liked in nearby Carytown. Being easy walking distance from my home, I go there frequently and enjoy supporting local businesses in the area when possible. Even if a small business may charge a little more for the same item that's found cheaper in a chain store, I often will find myself supporting that business to help boost our local economy even more.
Are you looking for new decor for your beautiful Richmond home this holiday season? Why not check your own local businesses first in support of Small Business Saturday? You could be very surprised at the exciting special merchandise that perhaps only a small business specialty store may have!
