Today is a special day. My grandmother is 90 years old today. That alone is a great accomplishment, she's still does everything on her own and is as strong as a rock! I hope I inherit her strong will.
A little story I hope you enjoy. I am originally from Chicago, St. Patrick's Day was or is celebrated with much enthusiasm in the windy city.
You see my grandfather had a terrible memory and always forgot my grandmother's birthday, although it landed on a "holiday". Well one day he was told by co-worker that on St. Patrick's day Lake Michigan by the Navy Pier was dyed green to celebrate the day. Well since he drove by the lake every day he made it a point to enjoy the scenery and look at the lake everyday. He still forgot to wish my Grandmother a Happy Birthday on the morning of her birthday, but "Thanks" to "traffic" and the view of the lake, as he was returning home from work he saw that the lake was Green and immediately would turn around and go buy my grandmother a gift.
Well after 50 years of marriage, my grandfather passed away, But my grandmother decided to send the City a thank you letter for reminding her husband about her birthday. Someone at the city send it over to the Chicago Tribune and it was posted on a St. Patrick's day a few years back and a gift was delivered to my grandmother wishing her a Happy Birthday. Thanks Chicago Tribune!
So If it's anyone's Birthday today, Happy Birthday and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
