However, my favorite Christmas Market so far has been in Georgetown, Co. Georgetown is easily accessible right off I-70 - you can see it when you drive past on your way to the ski areas Keystone, Copper and Vail. Just like most towns along this deeply cut valley through the Rockies, Georgetown is an old mining town.
The towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume were recognized as a National Historic Landmark District (NHLD) already back in the 1960's - as a monument and witness to the history of America's Wild Wild West of Gold Rush and early Settlements. The historic downtown has the most beautiful backdrop of mountains that seem to touch the not ending blue sky. The historic town has a very unique flair that is perfect for a "OLDE WORLD" Christmas Market.
Saint Nicolas heads the parade of the Santa Lucia children's procession along main street. You can visit the shops, smell (and buy) the roasted chestnuts, eat delicious German bratwursts, feed the reindeer, take a romantic horse drawn carriage rides.

If this doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, then I don't know, what will. I love it and though I think I need to experience other towns as well, it would be tough NOT to go to Georgetown like every year. If you have a chance to go, please stop by this beautiful town!
