Even the Plants are Confused

It is the first of December, and the weather has been really nice so far.   Yes, we have had 3 snowstorms, but only with an inch or two of snow each time.   This is a mild winter for Denver.

This past week we enjoyed temperatures flitting around 70 degrees!    Even the plants are confused.     The rose bushes in my back yard are getting new leaves.   You can see the snow in the background, the shady north areas have not melted.

The irises are coming up in several places.

The mums still have a few blooms left.

Mums still blooming

The chives KNOW what season it is, and they are pretty done.

Chives are done

Even though this week has been really nice for the Thanksgiving Holiday and still in the 60's, we have a cold front on the horizon with single digits this week.

Enjoy the warm weather while it is here, there surely is cold winter weather in the forecast!

Joan, I know we’ve had some pretty wacky weather in Seattle as well, we’re supposed to have a bit of snow tonight should be interesting if it happens during the Monday night football game.

Crazy! We had an unusually cold November and December has been pretty cold, too! When did NJ turn out to be colder than Colorado?

Joan: I don't know a lot about the weather but I do know that Denver is sure to have more snow, much more before the spring weather arrives for good.  It has been wet here!

My own yard is looking a little confused too!  Some plants are beginning to balk and go dormant, while some of my bulbs are sprouting new green foliage.

Joan, it's definitely getting colder. We feel it here in our neck of the woods, and yes, even the plants are confused here too. Some are okay, some are done. Stay warm and Happy Holidays to you!

Joan, we've also had fairly mild weather, but one thing for sure is that the bermuda grass is definitely not confused...it's definitely brown and won't be green again late next spring.
