The Grill on Zebulon Road in Rocky Mount, NC is Closing...

The Grill on Zebulon Road Rocky Mount NC

I stopped in today for a quick, late lunch and was informed about the closing.  If you have ever eaten at The Grill (or Cuvee as my family still calls it) then you know a wonderful establishment is going to be missed.  The doors will close after the dinner service on December 28, 2013.  Owner H. I. Tharrington is retiring after a long, successful run in the food industry which also included MacHaven/The City Club.

This upscale bistro has been date night, family dinner when the kids were both home, girls lunch out, lunch with clients and like today - a quick lunch on my own.  The restaurant was originally opened as Cuvee and the name was change about two years ago to The Grill on Zebulon Road.  I could not remember exactly when they opened, so I asked H. I.  He could not remember the date, but we were able to look on the news article that was framed and hanging in the restaurant - April 2004.

The lunch menu offers some eclectic and delicious salads, sandwiches and wraps.  My son and I always enjoy the Elena Ruz which is a turkey panini with cream cheese and strawberry jelly.  The homemade soups vary from day to day, but always hit the spot.

The dinner menu offers everything from curry to steaks to a blue plate special on certain nights.  Often there is a dinner special that is enticing and inventive.  My daughter's favorite is the steak and whatever potatoes that are being dished up that night.  My husband is not particular and enjoys the tuna to the pork tenderloin.

I am sure that quite a few of us will be making a couple of trips to the restaurant over the next few weeks to of course continue our support, but to also have our favorite menu items one last time.  I wish H. I. a healthy, relaxing retirement and hope that he realizes how much that he and The Grill will be missed.
