Situation
In our office many people think of leases as not worth their time especially those that are less than $2,000 per month. They think the money they make is not worth the effort. That is how I came to inherit this particular deal.

This couple was interested in moving into the Frisco Texas or Little Elm area of Texas. They had already started looking and they had a time constraint. As I spoke with them I began to understand the issue. These people were both divorced one very recently the other many years ago. They had a great love story of how they got back together as they met previously years ago.
Actions
In the next 3 weeks they had to find a home to live, get married, one had to find a
new job and move from Minnesota. Talk about a stressful situation. To me this was a perfect situation. I get the opportunity to help them and make a huge positive impact in their lives. Yes I will make some money but that was not the issue.
I took them to see more than 25 homes. The first 10 were there choices and I made the time to show them knowing that they would learn something. And they did. They realized that they had to up their budget in order to get something they were comfortable to live in as they would have two daughters living with them and be near two other children who currently resided in Little Elm with their mother.
While they were in town we came to know each other well and I learned much more about what they were looking for in their new home. They knew due to personal issues that they could not buy a home and for the next two years they would lease. They decided to put applications in on two homes. One we heard back from in a few days the other didn’t even return my emails or calls.
Solution
They had to leave town in order to get married and get moving. They continued to
look through the listings and found a home that they thought might work. They asked me to look at it for them. Sure enough this was the best house for them
and it fit their needs very well. They trusted me to make that decision for them sight unseen except for some pictures.
Everything worked out. When they arrived I was waiting for them to welcome them and they were thrilled. They had had some trouble moving but nothing they could not overcome. I remain in touch with them today and they always say as soon as they can they will use me to help them find their next home to purchase.
Lesson Learned
This was not a big financial deal. However, the lesson learned from this was huge for me. I am not in this business for the money. I am in this business to help make a positive impact on the lives of the people who decided that I was the right person to work with them. My clients, who were not worth the time and money for some, were worth a whole lot more to me. Their success was my focus.
