How to Create a Directory to your Neighborhood Blog Posts in your Blog Template.
It’s always fun to start the customization of a new toy, like the new Active Rain.
These past few weeks I have been writing Forest and Wildlife posts for the Neighborhoods that we work in on a regular basis, we call our neighborhoods counties.
Well the SEO that we have been getting has been tremendous, but I was looking to do a bit more so I decided to create a directory to all of these posts, especially since there will be well over a hundred by the time I am done.
I was noticing a few blanks in the Blog Setup screen today and thought this would be perfect for what I needed for my directory.
At first glance it seemed that this may be impossible since this box does not allow any formatting or posting of hyperlinks, but I suspected that I could figure something out.
So here is what I tried, and it worked!
Step 1
Create a new blog post in draft mode.
Step 2
List your Neighborhoods (or Counties if you work a large area of rural land like we do).
Step 3
For each neighborhood, attach a hyperlink to the blog that goes with the neighborhood, if you have not written the blog post yet then just leave the name here without a link and it will bug you until you write it.
Step 4
Save your blog post in draft mode, and then click the edit button again.
Step 5
Click the source code button.
Highlight the source code, hit control C.
Step 6
Get ready to insert into your blog template
Go to your homepage, Click on "Blogs", then "settings".
Step 7
Look for the box labeled "additional information", hit control V, and then hit the update button and it should look like this>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If it does not work, drop me a note or give me a call and we can work it out together.
Now that we are done...
Don’t delete this draft post; you will need it every time that you write a new neighborhood post.
After writing updated or new neighborhood posts just repeat this process to update your template.
